ASUS has officially launched its latest ROG Phone 5 Series in India. The lineup includes ROG Phone 5, ROG Phone 5 Pro and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate Editions.
Starting with the basics, you get Dual Nano SIM slots in all three models. They support 5G SA/NSA and Dual 4G VoLTE. All of these measure 172.8 x 77.2 x 10.29 mm and weigh about 238 grams.
These come with new and improved AirTrigger 5 control system which now includes 7 to 9 sensors for enhanced accuracy and sensitivity. They are now positioned closer to the edges so that small hand users can also take full advantage. These have grip press detection as well.
The ASUS ROG Phone 5 sports a ROG RGB lighting logo, the ROG Phone 5 Pro has ROG Vision Color PMOLED display and ROG Phone 5 Ultimate model has ROG Vision monochrome PMOLED display at the back. Their revamped internal structure is re-engineered with center placed PCB. Its Vapor chamber has been reshaped with more extensive graphite sheets for heat dissipation.
All of these come with an in-display fingerprint sensor. They run on Android 11 with ROG UI on top. They come with Quad-microphones with OZO noise reduction technology. These also feature 3.5mm audio jack, ESS Sabre ES9280AC Pro with HyperStream II Quad DAC architecture and dual Cirrus Logic CS35L45 Mono AMP. They have 12 x 16 mm dual 7-magnet front facing speakers with GameFX and Dirac HD sound.
Most of the specifications of ASUS ROG 5 Series are more or less same now. They feature a 6.78-inch OLED 10-bit HDR display with 2448 x 1080 pixels resolution, 20.4:9 aspect ratio, 144Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate and 24.3ms touch latency. The screen delivers 111% DCI-P3 colors with 150.89% sRGB, <1% Delta E average, 1000000:1 contrast ratio and 5 nits to 800nits @ APL100 + HBM or 1200nits @ APL1 brightness. For scratch resistance, ASUS ROG has placed Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on top.
At its core is an octa-core Snapdragon 888 mobile platform with Adreno 660 GPU. These come with 6000mAh (typical) / 5800mAh (minimum) dual-cell battery and supports 65W HyperCharge fast charging. It is also compatible with 30W QC 4.0 / PD 3.0 / Direct Charge adapter. ASUS claims that HyperCharge fast charging tech can charge 4200mAh up to 70% in just 30 minutes and 100% in 52 minutes.
The ASUS ROG 5 is offered in options of 8GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB (UFS 3.1) storage and 12GB LPDDR5 RAM with 256GB UFS 3.1 storage space. The ASUS ROG 5 Pro comes with 16GB RAM while ASUS ROG 5 Ultimate has 18GB LPDDR5 RAM. Both Pro and Ultimate variants of ROG 5 has 512GB storage space.
As far as cameras go, these have 24MP selfie camera with F/2.0 Aperture and 0.9um pixel size. At the back side are triple cameras which include 64MP (main, Sony IMX686, F/1.8, 0.8um pixel size) + 13MP (125-degree ultra-wide, F/2.4) + 5MP (macro, F/2.0) shooters. The rear camera combo can record up to 8K videos at 30fps, 4K at 60 fps and 4K slow motion at 120fps (1080p at 240fps).
Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V.50, USB Type-C, NFC and GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/Galileo/QZSS/Navic.
