Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC is expected to unveil a new flagship smartphone called HTC U. The phone is also refereed as ‘HTC Ocean’ and has surfaced multiple times in the past.
Now, specifications of HTC U including its key features as surfaced, thanks to a presentation slides acquired by Android Headlines. A unique and impressive feature is its pressure sensitive frame.
The handset seems to have Edge Sensors which are placed near the bottom of the device. It allows users to interact with phone edges to access certain functions or complete tasks. Users can long / short squeeze edges of the phone’s frame to access functions. It will have three different levels, configurable according to users requirements.
The HTC U, widely known as HTC Ocean will feature enhanced camera features like advanced HDR settings, HDR+ (with Real-Time HDR scene detection), Smart Video Zoom, Hi-Res recording and 3D audio. It has four microphones that records best quality sound when taking videos. The handset will have two different recording modes like 3D Audio and Hi-Res Recording to ensure least quality degradation.
HTC’s signature BoomSound Audio also makes way. It even comes with dual speakers for optimum stereo sound output. There is HTC Usonic feature that allows users to configure sound profiles, thus personalizing audio experience.
HTC Sense Link PC client allows users to easily copy / paste content between smartphone and PC. It also allows users read articles from smartphone into computer.
The specifications of HTC U includes 5.5-inch WQHD display with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC and run on Android 7.1 Nougat OS out of the box. It comes with 4GB / 6GB RAM with 64GB / 128GB storage (UFS) options.
The handset also integrates fingerprint sensor into home button. It is expected with 3000 mAh battery Quick Charge 3.0 support. Connectivity wise, it will supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Dual Band (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth V4.2, GPS and USB Type-C.
