Two new gaming smartphones from ZTE’s Nubia brand are out in China. These include Tencent Edition of RedMagic 6 and RedMagic 6 Pro (both developed together in partnership with Tencent).
For starters both Nubia / Tencent RedMagic 6 / RedMagic 6 Pro have dimensions of 169 x 77.09 x 6.89 mm and weigh about 220 grams. In terms of design, the Pro variant leverages aero-grad heat dissipation ice blade design. It ususes high thermal conductivity aviation aluminum alloy for enhanced heat dissipation and thermal conductivity at back. It is said to reduce tactile temperature of fuselage surface by 3 to 5 degrees.
These gaming smartphones house 400Hz dual pro shoulder triggers with RGB Light strip for gaming aesthetics. They come with an 6th generation in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication (50% faster) and boots on Android 11 based Redmagic OS 4.0.
Both RedMagic 6 / Redmagic 6 Pro feature int 6.8-inch AMOLED display with 2400 x 1080 pixels resolution at 20:9 aspect ratio. Their screen offers 165Hz refresh rate and 500Hz (single finger) / 360Hz (multi-finger) touch sampling rate. It uses Touch Choreographer tech which selects best refresh rate (60Hz / 90Hz / 120Hz / 165Hz) based on your activity. The AMOLED panel offers 8ms low response time for responsiveness, delivers 630nits of brightness, 10bit (1.07Billion) colors and DCI-P3 wide color gamut. Their screens also boast an impressive 91.28% screen-to-body ratio.
The RedMagic 6 / 6 Pro are powered by octa-core Snapdragon 888 mobile platform with Adreno 660 GPU. These come in option of 8GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB UFS 3.1 storage space and 12GB / 16GB / 18GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB / 256GB / 512GB UFS 3.1 respective storage options.
These also use RAM Boost memory compression technology that expands virtual memory, allowing 12GB RAM to be used as 18GB RAM. The Tencent RedMagic 6 and Tencent RedMagic 6 Pro also feature in all new ICE 6.0 multi-dimensional cooling system. It makes up for high speed centrifugal turbo fan (up to 20000 rpm) and canyon air duct design. Additionally, these have large copper fill covering battery and a worlds thinners 0.33mm vapor chamber behind motherboard.
As far as optics go, both of them have 8MP front facing camera coupled with triple cameras at the back with LED Flash. They consist of 64MP (main) + 8MP (120-degree ultra-wide-angle) + 2MP (macro) lenses. These handsets also use CPHY-DSI technology for increased transmission rate for 2X high quality images with 20to50% lesser power.
The RedMagic 6 specs include 5050mAH battery with 66W fast charging support. The RedMagic 6 Pro sports a 4500mAh battery capacity with 120W quick charging. The Pro variant is claimed to fully charge in just about 17 minutes. Both of these come with triple microphones, stereo speakers with dual Smart PA and 3.5mm headphone jack.
Connectivity options include 5G (SA/NSA) / Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax (2.4GHz / 5GHz / 6GHz), Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth V5.1, GPS (l1+l5) / GLONASS/Beidou and USB Type-C.
